Awkwafina

Awkwafina began as an American performer and rapper, making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexuality with a humorous twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood, she was able to make a few songs. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first taste of musician life came via the trumpet. In addition to classical and jazz, she started studying hip-hop when she was in her teens. While in college, she concentrated on her studies and took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. In a short period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. On the album, there were other viral hits including Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$. The track that was the last one to be linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was which was published in 2015. The singer decided to make acting as a profession after having completed her two previous ventures as a musician and author. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks & Bad Rap. She had a breakthrough role in the year 2018 when she appeared in a number of movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's Eight as well as Crazy Rich Asians.
