Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is an American actor, singer, and former model. She is known for co-starring in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the singer in the group of girls Apollonia 6. Apollonia is a singer/actress who was who was christened by Prince in 1984 became one of the female musicians of the 80s that benefited from Prince. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model actress in the late '70s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, Patricia Kotero was chosen to play the lead lady in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she changed her name.) She then replaced Vanity as a member of the female trio Vanity 6 which starred in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. The trio scored a modest smash with Sex Shooter however it was as Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had more of an impact on charts. The relationship between Kotero and Prince came to an end when the duo were at odds over her future career path. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of was ended up splitting. She was later seen in a few minor roles during the time (reportedly declining to appear on the Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988, however it was not a great collection of R&B/dance music that did not really impress the people. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. The following decade saw she continued to be active in the field of acting (if a little off the radar), with minor TV roles, movies and an exercise video. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. After returning to university and receiving an associate's degree in filmmaking. She also created her own business. Apollonia has many hats.
